The man said “hello” to his echo
but his echo never replied.
The man cried out loud with no echo,
for something inside him had died.
He adjusted his tie in the mirror,
but before him no reflection was there.
He straightened his tie in the mirror,
and combed his invisible hair.
He breathed on the mirror before him,
but no condensation did appear,
He sighed on the mirror before him,
but the mirror remained fully clear.
He ran down the stairs in the hallway,
but the stairs did not let out a groan.
He ran down the stairs in the hallway,
in his now silent and empty home.
He picked up his coat and his hat,
and carefully put them on.
He checked the time on his watch
And with that he was finally gone.
(I had the first part repeating in my head and needed to write it down. Let’s call this one a work in progress and one day I might revisit those first few lines…)
