I can’t sleep,
I say as I scroll through my phone.
My fingers are twitching to tweet.
Just one more like and I will sleep.
My virtual dream,
Continuously creeps.
I need another page of my story,
My followers must know my thoughts,
So I’ll stay away just a few more moments,
And share another picture of my fork.
I can’t sleep,
But I got a new follower,
And that gets me to 52.
No sleep is worth the reward,
When I get just one more view.
Someone liked it!
They liked it!
Instant gratification is worth sleep deprivation,
We’re the tech generation,
So what if I cannot sleep?
I sleep when I’m dead,
When every tweet has been read,
And liked or retweeted,
Call me conceited,
But I’m just devoted,
To every Insta I’ve posted.
So I promise just one more tweet,
“Don’t you hashtag hate it when you can’t hashtag sleep?”
