I dreamt about you last night,
You hid yourself as you undressed.
Fear flashed before your eyes,
As the darkest night caressed
Your skin, so supple and soft,
Let the light of three moons dance,
I dreamt of you once more,
And slumbered in your trance.
Fear flashed before your eyes,
As though you saw me peering,
You wore suited armor now
And it were not me that you were fearing.
You locked on with your eyes,
As you raised a bloodied fist,
And stood in untold lands,
With shackles on your wrists.
I do not know your name,
But you reside among my dreams,
I wish that I could find you,
And ease you from your screams.
Fear flashed before your eyes,
Each time that we would meet,
I can not save you there,
But you cannot claim defeat.
You’re shackled and you’re locked
And forced to live my nightmare,
There is no freedom in my sleep,
When it is filled with despair.
I finally caught a glimpse
Of your face I had not painted,
And in my perfect horror,
We were already acquainted.
Fear flashed before your eyes,
When awakened and in slumber,
There was no resting here,
Our good days were out numbered.
For you were I in sleep,
And I were you out here.
You lived in the world I created,
To protect me from this fear.
But as I grew old and weary,
So did the land I made,
There were no more corners of happiness,
No places to be saved.
I created you in slumber,
So no one could here the cries,
And when I saw who you’d become,
Fear flashed before my eyes.
