The corner of her smile

There was something in the corner of her smile,

a little tiwtch,

a moment,

only small,

but there.

It told him that something was wrong.

The somewhere in space,

her world was colliding,

her world was crashing,

and there wasn’t anyway he could fix it.

For the smile was still there,

masking the twitch,

hiding the crack,

making the world think she was ok.

Making it impossible to find out what was wrong.

And,

as though his world had collided too,

he began to twitch the same.

A subtle twitch that let him know,

that beyond all else,

he felt her pain,

he knew her sadness,

and he knew,

without fixing her’s,

his would grow.

It would consume him.

He would soon not be able to hide the fractures in his face,

and his smile would no longer mask the pain he felt.

She was broken,

and in being unable to help,

he was breaking too.
